The Ti-Nitride coating not only helps make shock operation smoother but also increases shock life. The shock shafts are less prone to get worn by dirt and debris with the hard coating. The longer wearing surface of the shafts save with wear on the o-rings. Lastly the coating reacts with less "polishing effect" by the o-rings that turns the shock oil dark with use.
