2021 - 17.5 Latemodel Rules

Chassis: Latemodels must resemble contemporary full-scale cars racing in “World of Outlaws” and “DIRT” sanctioned events. Minimum weight = 53 oz. Wheelbase = 9.5” min, 11.5" max. Maximum tread width =10.0”. Must be 2 wheel drive, rear wheel driven.


Motor:
Intermixing of manufacturer parts will not be allowed. No parts of motors may be modified, altered or removed in any way. All stock hardware must be used, I.E. no aluminum or titanium screws/bolts. The minimum resistance allowed per pole is 17.7 milli-Ohm’s at 75*F.  ROAR Spec 17.5 motor: The three slotted stator must be wound with 17.5 turns of 2 strands of a maximum diameter of .813 mm per slot. No motor will be approved with resistance less than 35.4 milliohms* between any 2 phases of the motor (AB, AC, BC), when measured at 25C with an Instek GOM 802 milliohm meter. It is not legal to unwind, rewind, unsolder, resolder, re-epoxy, add epoxy or any other coating or material to any part of the stator. If the solder tabs are found to be tampered with you will be immediately disqualified. All motors are subject to disassembly at any given time during an event at the race director’s discretion. Ceramic bearings may be used but must be the same dimensions as factory. Removal of stator from outer can will result in immediate disqualification.

 

APPROVED MOTORS:

  • R1 Wurks: R1 Wurks V21 PN:20010 uses 125704 rotor. (35.58)
  • Team Trinity: Trincorp Revtech X-Factor PN: REV1102 Uses TEP1119 rotor. (35.68)


Battery:
2 cell LiPo, hardcase, 7.4 volt, hard wired Dean’s plug (no bullet plug batteries) for connection to the ESC, with a maximum 5200 mah rating and a maximum continuous “C” rating of 50c. No additional batteries are allowed including those used to power receivers or cooling fans. All batteries will be checked prior to each race to ensure battery voltage is a maximum of 8.44 volts or less. If the battery reads 8.45 or more on the SCOR Volt meter you will be required to run your battery down to 8.35 prior to entering the race. 


Speed Controllers:
SCOR approved locked timing “blinky” speedo only from the list below.  Boosters or anything that adds timing /voltage will not be allowed.  Only the capacitor that comes with the speed controller may be used.

Bodies: The only bodies legal for the Late model class are those that are DODC approved and those are listed below. Molded portion of body can be no longer than 22”. All corners of bodies and spoilers must be rounded for safety. Under body support may be added to brace each rear quarter panel and door, but must hold it in stock position, cannot be flared out. Must not be wider than 11.50” forward of front wheel openings and 11.00” at any point behind front wheel openings. No additional wings, flaps, spoilers, wickers or vents will be allowed. Body may not be altered in any way from its DODC approved configuration i.e.: shortened, lengthened, narrowed, flared fenders etc. Front and rear windows may be removed at trim lines but a flat Lexan or similar material deck must be added in cockpit area. Bodies with add on roofs may leave front and rear windows in or out but roofs must be mounted in stock position. On all bodies side and quarter windows must remain in place. All four-wheel wells must be cut out to a minimum dimension of 2.50” (see drawing below). Rear Spoiler maximum chord from body deck including any wicker bills: 2.00“. Maximum rear deck height from bottom of chassis is 4.0". Rear Spoiler Cap may not be any larger than the drawing below.

2021 - 21.5 Latemodel Rules

Motor: The only legal motor for 21.5 Latemodel will be the Motiv USGT Spec motor #GRC2000

Motor Specifications:

NO rotors, sensors or stators outside of the below specification provided will be considered legal. Aluminum or stainless-steel main can or end bell screws are prohibited for 21.5 Latemodel competition. Intermixing of parts from ANY manufacturer will not be allowed. No parts of motors may be modified, altered or removed in any way. All stock hardware must be used, I.E. no aluminum or titanium screws/bolts. It is not legal to unwind, rewind, unsolder, re-solder, re-epoxy, add epoxy or any other coating or material to any part of the stator. If the solder tabs are found to be tampered with you will be immediately disqualified. All motors are subject to disassembly at any given time during an event at the race director’s discretion. Removal of stator from outer can, will result in immediate disqualification.

 

MOTOR TECH CHECKLIST: MEASUREMENTS TAKEN AT ROOM TEMPERATURE OF 75 DEG F*

Spur Gear: Must use either a 108t 64pitch or an 81t 48pitch spur gear
. Any gear covers need to be removed for initial tech inspection. Any size pinion gear is allowed.                                                 


Battery:
2 cell LiPo, hardcase, 7.4 volt, hard wired Dean’s plug (no bullet plug batteries) for connection to the ESC, with a maximum 5200 mah rating and a maximum continuous “C” rating of 50c. Tires: Foam tires only. Must use SCOR BSR Green or Blue / Customworks X2 or X3 compound tires.

21.5 Latemodel competitors will be allowed a maximum of eight (8) tires for use in competition during the event.

Competitors will be required to bring tires to tech to be stickered for the event prior to the drivers meeting. Sticker serial numbers will be recorded for each competitor and are non-transferable to other competitors. Only tires stickered for the event will be allowed to be used in competition. At the conclusion of the event, the sticker serial numbers will be void and no longer allowed for use in competition. The tires may be presented for tech and re stickered at other events.

2021 - 17.5 Sprint Car Rules

 

  

General - Maximum Overall Length: 18.000". Maximum Chassis width: 4.025“. Wheelbase: =9.5” min, 11.5" max. Tread width max 10.0”

Weight
– Minimum weight is 55oz.

Cage
– Sprint cars must have a scale appearing contemporary cage made out of rounded stock. The cage must be symmetrical left to right and mounted level to the chassis. Unrealistic shaped cages designed to exploit the rules below are not permitted. Maximum cage width at driver halo, down tubes, and top frame rail: 3.600".
Maximum cage height 5.5" from top of chassis to top of cage at highest point. Rear "down tubes" must slant forward from bottom to top. All cage and body components such as cage, bumpers, nerf bars, hoods, side panels, tanks, etc. must be mounted on the centerline of the cage. Chassis may not extend outside of the side panels by more than 1/4" on either side.

Bumpers
– A flat, curved or tubular front bumper (or combination of) must be used and may not be designed to direct air or create downforce. Maximum height of front bumper is 1.75” from the bottom of the lowest point of the chassis. Scale appearing side nerf bars must be used on both sides of the car (left side of nitro sprint is optional due to clearance needed for nitro exhaust). A scale appearing rear hoop style bumper must be used. Bumpers and nerf bars must be made of rounded stock with no sharp edges.

Tail tank
– A traditional scale appearing rounded style three-dimensional rear fuel cell must be used.

Headers
- Three-dimensional scale appearing exhaust headers must appear on both sides of car in “engine area”

Cage Side panels
– Flat side panels may be made from molded or fabricated polycarbonate. Maximum
height of side panels in front of the driver cockpit is 3.80” from the bottom of the chassis. Must have minimum of 3/4" high by 2.5" long openings on both sides of cage in driver compartment. Additional material may be used/added to either side of the side panel openings to replicate a scale appearing driver but may not exceed 1" x 1". (Note that the top wing mounts may cover these openings for winged classes.) Side
panels may not extend beyond the rear of the cage by more than 0.25”. Side panels may not extend above or in front of the front down tubes. Side Panels may not extend into the area that is behind the rear axle AND below the top of the rear nerf bar. Scale appearing driver arm guards and engine vents may be used but cannot extend more than 3/8" from the side panels. No other flares or turnouts designed to deflect, trap and/or form a pattern for air to travel in a directed manner are permitted except for those used to cool electronics.

Hood Area
– A scale appearing hood must be used and is defined as beginning at the front axle and ending at the front of the driver cockpit. The hood must be symmetrical from left to right. The hood must be tall enough and wide enough to allow room for a scale engine intake and air cleaners (no unrealistically low or flat hoods). Minimum vertical gap from top of hood to bottom of front cage crossbar: .750". The hood may not drop below the nearest point of the side panels by more than 3/8” and may not have any channels more than 0.25” deep designed to trap or direct air.

Nose Area
– A molded or fabricated nose piece may be used and is defined from the front axle forward to the front bumper. Front bumper may not extend more than 3” from front axles. Nose piece (any Lexan) must be at least
1/4" back from the leading edge of the front bumper. Maximum width of nose piece/bumper is 3.75". Maximum width of any surface designed to add downforce is 3.125”. Nose piece may not extend above the cage down tubes or an imaginary line connecting the down tubes if the cage is a split design.

Front wing/mounts
– For front wing dimensions see appropriate wing drawing pdf. The front wing center section may not extend in front of the front bumper. Front wing mounts may be made of Lexan but may not exceed 1.75” in length and 1.75” in height and may not extend in front of or behind the center section of the wing.

Top wing/mounts
– For top wing dimensions see appropriate wing drawing pdf. The 6x6" main wing deck will be the standard Sprint Car wing size. Top wings are mandatory and front wings are optional. Top wing height at leading edge: 5.00“minimum / 6.5” maximum from bottom of chassis. Center section and side panels must be made from at least 3 separate pieces of polycarbonate, carbon or aluminum material. All corners and edges must be rounded and free of sharp edges. Main and Front wings must be mounted so that they are centered on cage, no offset wings. Wing center sections must have all 4 corners set at 90 degree angles, no canted or angled panels. Wings must also be mounted level from side to side. Center section of wing may not extend beyond leading or trailing edge of side panels. Side panels must have braces that hold side panel rigid at 90deg. to center section during race conditions. Two braces are required from top of the center foil to the left sideboard and one brace is permitted below the center foil to the right side board. Braces can be a maximum of .750" wide and front edge of front brace must be no more than 1.5” back from side panel leading edge. Side Panels may have front, back, top and bottom turnouts of no more than .375" and are included in max dimension. Flat foil center sections will be allowed a .250” turndown at the leading edge.

2021 EDM Rules

  • Wheelbase: 9.5” min, 11.5" max
  • Minimum weight = 53 oz.
  • Maximum width: 10.0”
  • Must be 2 wheel drive (rear wheel driven only)
  • Maximum length of complete car: 19.5"

Motor:

Intermixing of manufacturer parts will not be allowed. No parts of motors may be modified, altered or removed in any way. All stock hardware must be used, I.E. no aluminum or titanium screws/bolts. The minimum resistance allowed per pole is 17.7 milli-Ohm’s at 75*F.  ROAR Spec 17.5 motor: The three slotted stator must be wound with 17.5 turns of 2 strands of a maximum diameter of .813 mm per slot.  Body:

  • All fabricated body panels I.E. Doors, Windows, Roof, and Inner Panel must be made from minimum .020" thick Lexan/polycarbonate material (.020" measurement does not include any decal or wrap)
  • All Vacuum formed body panels must be pulled from minimum .030" thick Lexan/polycarbonate material. Separate hoods and front body panels may be pulled from .020" Lexan/polycarbonate material
  • No additional wings, flaps, spoilers, wickers or vents will be allowed.
  • Front bumper must be mounted flat and cannot be angled to act as a wing.
  • An additional front body panel is allowed on the front of the car but may not extend forward of the front bumper.
  • Max Side lip on front panel and Hood 1/4“
  • Maximum front bumper width: 5.0“
  • Front body panel max width: 4.0“
  • Front body panel max chord length: 3.0"
  • Inner panel must have scale appearing “hood” that extends from the door leading edge to the leading edge of the roof.
  • Said “hood” must be centered on inner panel
  • “Hood” Width: Minimum 2.5"
  • Minimum “hood” height for entire length is: .750“
  • Clearance between top of hood and leading edge of roof is min. 1.0" and max 2.0"
  • Dimensional specifications: See drawing
  • Side panels must be no larger than one of the following three templates: Bicknell Template, Teo Template, Troyer TemplateSee drawings below.
  • Left Side Panel must be inside a straight line drawn from the outside of both left side wheels/tires and outside of left side of chassis.
  • Front and rear windows must be removed and any clear portion is included in max roof length dimension.
  • Side windows must remain clear
  • Both sides of body must be at 90 Degrees to the rear of body and or spoiler
  • Door/side panel may have a 90 degree "BEND IN" max 3/8" at bottom for strength
  • No rear wheel cutouts are allowed on the horizontal plane of the inner. Right and Left rear wheel wells must be cut out to appropriate scale dimensions.
  • Bodies must have at least 1/3 of right rear tire exposed when viewed from front, top and rear of car must have 2 side panel braces as specified in drawing that must hold side panels at 90 degrees to inner panel both statically and during racing conditions.
  • Inner panel and spoiler cannot extend beyond rear of side panel
  • Outer front edge of inner panel cannot extend beyond the front of the door but may taper from that point forward of the door toward the hood at a point no more than 1.5" forward of the door.
  • Roof specifications: Minimum Length and Width 5.25” / Maximum Length and Width 6.25” See drawing
  • Must have rear roof spoiler Min 1/8" Max 1/4" bent DOWN between 45 and 90 degrees
  • Rear spoiler: max chord is 3.0" from body deck including any wicker bills

  • A molded or fabricated nose piece may be used and is defined from the front axle forward to the front bumper.
  • Front bumper may not extend more than 3” from front axles.
  • Nose piece (any Lexan) must be at least 1/4" back from the leading edge of the front bumper.
  • Maximum width of nose piece/bumper is 3.75".
  • Maximum width of any surface designed to add downforce is 3.125”.
  • Nose piece may not extend above the cage down tubes or an imaginary line connecting the down tubes if the cage is a split design.

Front wing/mounts:

  • For front wing dimensions see appropriate wing drawing pdf.
  • The front wing center section may not extend in front of the front bumper.
  • Front wing mounts may be made of Lexan but may not exceed 1.75” in length and 1.75” in height and may not extend in front of or behind the center section of the wing.

Top wing/mounts:

  • For top wing dimensions see appropriate wing drawing pdf. The 6x6" main wing deck will be the standard Sprint Car wing size.
  • Top wings are mandatory and front wings are optional.
  • Top wing minimum height at leading edge: 5.00" from bottom of chassis.
  • Top wing maximum height at leading edge: 6.50" from bottom of chassis.
  • Center section and side panels must be made from at least 3 separate pieces of polycarbonate, carbon or aluminum material. All corners and edges must be rounded and free of sharp edges.
  • Main and Front wings must be mounted so that they are centered on cage, no offset wings.
  • Wing center sections must have all 4 corners set at 90 degree angles, no canted or angled panels.
  • Wings must also be mounted level from side to side.
  • Center section of wing may not extend beyond leading or trailing edge of side panels.
  • Side panels must have braces that hold side panel rigid at 90deg. to center section during race conditions. Two braces are required from top of the center foil to the left sideboard and one brace is permitted below the center foil to the right side board. Braces can be a maximum of .750" wide and front edge of front brace must be no more than 1.5” back from side panel leading edge. Side Panels may have front, back, top and bottom turnouts of no more than .375" and are included in max dimension. Flat foil center sections will be allowed a .250” turndown at the leading edge.

Motor: Any motor from the ROAR Approved Modified or Stock Category

Battery: Any 2 cell ROAR approved battery.  All batteries may be checked prior to each race to ensure battery voltage is a maximum of 8.44 volts or less. If the battery reads 8.45 or more you do not race. Batteries must use a quick release hobby grade connector for connection to the ESC i.e.: Sermos, Deans, Traxxas, Bullets,etc.

ESC: Any ROAR Approved ESC's with an average street price of no more than $300.00                                                

Tires: Foam Tires:

  • Max wheel diameter: 2.0”. 
  • Front tire and wheel width: Max 1.1”.

  • Rear tire and wheel width: Max 1.5”, Min 1.4"

2021 – MUDBOSS Rules

 

Body: SALVAS MUDBOSS body only. Any minor modifications to the body must be approved before being allowed.

Chassis:

  • TRAXXAS 2wd (SLASH or RAPTOR) or TRAXXAS LCG chassis ONLY.
  • Original MFG suspension parts only. No other parts allowed (such as RPM).
  • Original MFG chassis parts only. No aftermarket hop-ups or optional aluminum parts.
  • Front bumper , right side bumper and front body post brace MUST be removed. Left side and rear bumpers can be removed if desired. **Rear RPM BEAR is allowed**
  • TRAXXAS front optional bumper (TRA2735) can be used but must be angled down.
  • Major alterations to the chassis or drivetrain/suspension components not allowed.
  • ALL electronics (receiver, ESC, transponder , etc ) must be mounted within the chassis surface (no outside installation).
  • Battery brace can be trimmed to allow for different MFG LiPo battery wire configurations.

 

Electronics:

  • Hobbywing locked timing 13.5 motor, part# 30408005 or #30408010 completely in its stock form.
  • A single 30mm motor fan can be used
  • Hobbywing just stock ESC part# 30112000 ONLY.
    Original TRAXXAS 2075 servo or SAVOX SC-0252MG Digital servo may be used. TRAXXAS 2075x , 2072x and SAVOX SAVSGSC0251MG servo gears are allowed as upgrades.
  • Servo saver and / or Bellcrank may be “PINNED”. Be advised the servo gears may be broken in the event of a crash. Only the original TRAXXAS plastic servo saver / bellcrank (white or black system) is allowed to mix components (i.e….black servo horn with white bellcrank).A solid (one piece) servo horn of any brand is allowed.
  • 2 cell LiPo, hardcase, 7.4 volt, hard wired plug (no bullet plug batteries) for connection to the ESC, with a maximum 5200 mah rating and a maximum continuous “C” rating of 50c. No additional batteries are allowed.  All batteries will be checked prior to each race to ensure battery voltage is a maximum of 8.44 volts or less. If the battery reads 8.45 or more on the SCOR Volt meter you will be required to run your battery down to 8.35 prior to entering the race. 

Adjustments:

  • TRAXXAS 76/83/86/90 spur gear with all transmission parts in place (slipper).
  • Any size pinion.Motor plate must remain completely stock and un altered. NO SLOTTING to allow larger pinions.
  • NO modifications allowed to the transmission case to allow a bigger gear ratio.
  • Gear cover must be OFF at all times to allow inspection.
  • Transmission functionality rule (motor can not spin while turning slowly 1 rear wheel 1 full turn)
  • TRAXXAS *STEEL* transmission gears only (Internal plastic transmission gears will not be allowed)
  • Any original wheel spacer combination (black , grey or a combo of both).
  • Added weight other than wheel balancing is not allowed.
  • The only allowed adjustments to the car are those allowed by the original MFG components.

 

Suspension:

  • TRAXXAS 2wd plastic shocks ONLY. (grey or black---front on front , rear on rear). Original springs (front TRA 5858---rear TRA 5857) NO LCG or aftermarket springs allowed. Front springs may be shortened by removing a MAXIMUM of 5 coils.
  • Shocks may use internal limiters  to shorten them.
  • Original length shock body and shaft (properly paired. front with front---rear with rear).
  • Original shock pistons from kit (1,2 or 3 hole with NO modifications)
  • NO FRONT BUMPSTOPS. A single original BLUE bumpstop MAY be used on the rear shocks. NO other bumpstops are allowed.
  • No shimming of suspension parts will be allowed.
  • All suspension parts must remain in the original position it was designed for. Upper hole on REAR shock tower for rear camber links is not allowed. Must be in original height position.

 

Tires: 2021 you can use theBandito tires as an option prior to being phased out part number: DTXC3801 SC-M/C3 or DTXC3800 SC-M/C2 with stock, unaltered Bandito foam inserts. The new tire allowed is the Pro-Line Hoosier G-60 in M3 and M4 compounds Part Number: PRO10153-03 and PRO10153-02Tires must have visible tread across the entire tread surface.

Wheels: Any brand wheel and Offset allowed. Front width can’t exceed 11.75” Rear width can’t exceed 12.25”

 


2021 Short Course Modified

 

Chassis:

  • Must be a SC Based Chassis
  • Carbon fiber chassis allowed. Must meet the following specs. All suspension components, transmission, front and rear bulkheads must be on center line of the vehicle.
  • All larger volume OEM Chassis are legal IE “AE,TLR,Traxxas. Aftermarket or specifically built chassis and kits must conform to the following specifications.
  • Minimum Chassis width 5.125”. Maximum Chassis width 7.0”. Maximum left side of chassis can be from centerline is 3.5”
  • Right side must be a minimum of 2.25” from centerline to outside edge of chassis.
  • Minimum wheelbase 12.5”. Maximum wheelbase 13.5”

Shock bodies: min length 1”

Front Track width: Min 11.42”.  Max 11.65”

Front and Rear Suspension arms: must be equal size left and right. Adjustable Rear Suspension arms are allowed.

MOTORS: OPEN MOTOR

BATTERY:

  • 2 Cell HARD CASE LiPo.
  • Battery must be mounted on the centerline of the vehicle. Can be either designed front to back or sideways across the chassis but center of battery must be on centerline of chassis.
  • All batteries will be checked prior to each race to ensure battery voltage is a maximum of 8.44 volts or less. If the battery reads 8.45 or more on the SCOR Volt meter you will be required to run your battery down to 8.35 prior to entering the race. 
  • No Gyro’s or driving assist devices will be allowed.

TIRES:

  • Any Short Course rubber tire with street type tread or slick (no foam tires). 
  • No cutting / gluing tires together

SC OPEN WHEEL MODIFIED BODY RULES:

  • 13" max body width. 28" max length (bumper to spoiler).
  • 7.5" max body height measured from bottom of chassis

Center deck:

  • 1" max deck rake. 1" max center deck taper (widest point of the deck can only be 1" wider than the narrowest point of deck)

Spoiler:

  • 1.5" max spoiler height
  • Spoiler end plate max 2” high off of center deck and 3.25” long

 Roof:

  • 0.5” max roof rake measured from deck
  • Maximum Roof width and length 9".
  • No roof spoilers, a bend down at the trailing edge of the roof is allowed for strength
  • Roof side rails allowed but must have a scale appearance and be on both the left and right sides of the roof.
  • 1/4" bend down at the leading edge of the roof allowed.

Roll cage/Roof Supports:

  • Must represent a cage, no solid plastic cages, must be cut the same on both sides.
  • Roll cage/roof supports must be cut or formed to resemble a roll cage.
  • No solid panel roof supports.
  • Window netting and rock guards are allowed.

Nose:

  • Nose sides can extend a max of .250” above the plane of the nose panel.
  • Nose sides can extend a max of .250” above the plane of the hood panel.
  • Nose cannot extend past the inner edges of the front wheels

Main nose panel:

  • Must be a flat plane.
  • No concave or scooped noses allowed.

Rear wheel wells:

  • Must be cut out to expose ALL of the rear tire and wheel.
  • Left and right windows and sails can be open, but both sides must be the same.
